2012 Street Beat Festival Date Set
The date has been set for our annual STREET BEAT FESTIVAL! It will take place Sunday September 30, 2012 from 11am to 7pm and is one of our biggest festivals of the season. Admission is FREE. The Ravens have released their schedule and there is no conflict with this date, so there will be a lot of people out and about in Federal Hill.
This is an exciting event that will be located on 6 blocks of Charles Street and Cross Street. The festival will feature live music on three stages, arts & crafts, and a ton of food and drink. There will even be a Kids’ Kross Street section for children and families. This will surely be a fun festival and great way for you to meet your neighbors, have fun with friends, and support the businesses of Federal Hill.
We look forward to seeing you there!

May Madness Coming to Federal Hill May 11!
Come join friends, neighbors, and business owners from Federal Hill for May Madness this spring. The event will take place on Friday, May 11th from 6-10PM. Just like the popular Moonlight Madness, shops and galleries around Cross Street Market will stay open late and offer refreshments, discounts, and specials to shoppers. Make sure to pick up a “passport” and get it stamped at 10 participating businesses to be entered to win prizes! Also, Federal Hill Main Street (42 E Cross Street) will offer free gift wrapping to those of you purchasing gifts for Mother’s Day or other special occasions.
Local business owners are very excited for this event that is replacing their traditional sidewalk sale. The interactive feature of the passport will allow neighbors and customers to really get involved in the event, meet the wonderful business owners, enjoy the spring weather, and spend time with friends.
According to local Alexandra Webb Artisan Jewelry shop owner Alexa Webb, “This is going to be a wonderful opportunity for businesses as well. It gives neighbors a reason to shop local and check out all of the unique boutiques and galleries in the neighborhood.”
This will be a wonderful event that you won’t want to miss!

Get Ready Federal Hill for the National Main Street Conference
Get ready Federal Hill… for about 2000 visitors! This week, April 1-4, thousands of Main Street program officials, volunteers, and fans from all over the US are gathered at the Baltimore Convention Center for the National Main Street Conference. This year’s theme, “Rediscover Main Street,” will focus on the four categories of our Main Street Approach: Business and Economic Development, Design, Organization, and Promotion.
Given Federal Hill’s close proximity to the conference coupled with its 2009 “Great American Main Street” award, we will definitely be a popular destination for attendees. The Federal Hill Business district will also be highlighted in two educational tours (April 1 and 2). Attendees will visit our neighborhood, check out façade improvements, beautification efforts, historic renovations, learn about our new microloan program from local small businesses, and other initiatives to strengthen the commercial district. Here’s where YOU come it. The tours will also include “free time,” giving tourists time to shop, dine, and enjoy all of what Federal Hill has to offer.
So get ready to show them what Federal Hill truly is- a friendly, close-knit, and extremely energetic community.
