Celebrating 30 Years at Big Jim's Deli

Anna Epsilantis had the surprise of her life when she walked into the 8x10 Club on Tuesday night. Under the guise of purchasing tickets for a future show, her son Phillip lured her in the door, where she was greeted enthusiastically by her many, many fans and well-wishers, gathered to honor her 30 years as proprietor of Big Jim's Deli in the Cross Street Market.

Freda Ulman and several friends pieced together an amazing celebration, with music by Nelly's Echo, food contributed by several fine Federal Hill establishments, tributes from Del. Brian McHale and Larry Nunley, representing the City Council, and much more. The piece de resistance was the amazing cake shaped like a turkey sandwich, with lettuce and tomato, the creative genius of Big Jim's Deli customer Cathy Gessner of Riverside Ave.
Everyone had a great time, and Anna was truly surprised. This was one of those evenings that reminds us how great it is to live, work, and play in Federal Hill! Congratulations, Anna!
