Business District Streets Are Looking Good

If you think the streets around the Cross Street Market seem cleaner lately, it's not your imagination. Federal Hill restaurants and taverns are kicking in funds to pay for about 24 man-hours of cleaning services each week by the local South Baltimore Station.

The Federal Hill Hospitality Association is using proceeds from its Irish Stroll event to hire the labor provided by residents of the Station, a home for men, mostly veterans, who are working toward self-sufficiency. The cleaning crew is out on Thursday and Sunday mornings.

Let's all do our part to keep our streets clean. If you see trash, pick it up! And, spread the word.

  1. What a great idea! This should be a national program- thanks go to those merchants. Now if only we can train people to use the trash cans, every part of Baltimore would look nice!
